There hasn’t been a Leo eclipse since 2018, and not much else has moved through Leo either. Then 2026 arrives, and Leo is suddenly crowded. Jupiter is there. So is the South Node. The Sun is there now, and Mercury enters on August 9. The Leo–Aquarius axis hasn’t been this busy in years.
The story is different this time. With the Nodes, Pluto and Jupiter all involved, neither the eclipse nor the famous Lion’s Gate Portal™ is an ordinary window of opportunity. They belong to something larger that’s already picking up speed, and there’s no brake pedal in sight.
Leo is the stage we all step onto eventually, looking for applause. For acceptance. A Leo eclipse exposes the distance between who we are and who we learned to be in order to get it.
So underneath all the astrology sits one question:
How much of the life you want is actually yours, and how much of it was built for an audience?
Most of us are still living inside a role we chose years ago, or inherited, or were handed and rewarded for. Life moved on. We changed. The image stayed, because it still works. It still gets approval, and it still tells us who we’re supposed to be. And why change what’s working, right?
Then the person and the role drift too far apart.
That’s where this eclipse starts. It doesn’t have to destroy anything to make the split visible. It shows us where we’ve been compressing ourselves to fit an identity we’ve outgrown, and where we keep accepting less because the familiar version of life is easier to defend than the unknown one.
Everyone runs into that contradiction somewhere.
For one person it’s a position they outgrew a while ago. For another, a relationship that only works while they stay smaller than they’ve already become. Someone else will realise the image they’ve spent years protecting now costs far more than it gives, and be genuinely shocked they ever thought it was worth protecting.
A Leo eclipse brings us back to essence. Who are you when the role falls away? What’s left when approval stops paying out? Which parts of your life still feel alive when nobody’s watching?
Leo rules the heart, too, which makes this personal. Can you really love while playing a part? Can a relationship stay alive when it runs on convenience, or on an image someone is carefully maintaining? And self-expression that’s been edited down to whatever other people are willing to accept: is that still self-expression?
This is where being liked stops being enough. One story reaches its limit, and another starts to take shape.
Not to impress someone on social media. To impress your true self.

Aries rising
Leo is your 5th house, so this happens in the realm of what you make and who you make it for. That means creative work, personal projects, romance, children. The South Node here retires an old way of getting attention. Jupiter in the same sign makes all of it louder before it makes it clearer.
Ship the thing you’ve been shadow-testing on friends. Put your name on it and get it out into the world, unpolished. Sort your work into what gets a good response and what you’d still make if nobody responded, because the second pile is what the next 18 months are for. In relationships, say the un-charming, sincere thing. If it only works while you’re entertaining someone, is it really working? If you have kids, that's where you notice you've been managing an image of a perfect parent instead of being present.
And if the block feels total, if nothing you used to enjoy still lands, that’s exhaustion that requires a different kind of attention. Give it to yourself, because you need it.
Taurus rising
The 4th house is the least public part of the chart, which is a complicated place for a Leo eclipse to land. Everything happening here happens where most people can’t really see it: your apartment, your family, the version of yourself that only exists at home. Ask who you’re still performing for. Usually it’s somebody who stopped watching years ago, or died, or never actually asked you to do all that — you just assumed they did.
This eclipse may also ring moves, sales, leases ending, a renovation you keep deferring, a parent needing something. Handle those, but the housing decision is rarely the point of an eclipse. Your family assigned you a role at some point, and most people never renegotiate it, even if they’ve outgrown it long ago, or never fit the part to begin with. Nobody will bring it up for you, and you’re the one who has to be different at the table before you’re treated differently. The place you live should feel like it belongs to the person you are now, not ten years ago.
Gemini rising
You already know this: you talk to a lot of people, and very few of them actually know anything about you. The 3rd house is the machinery of that. Messages, contacts, siblings, paperwork, the road between where you are and everywhere you go in a normal week. With the South Node here, threads may go quiet, group chats die, and you’ll notice you don’t miss most of them.
What’s ending is surface-level charm as a substitute for real contact. Being quick, being liked in every room, saying just the thing they want to hear. The unit worth protecting is those two or three people you can be boring and normal with. A sibling relationship may need an actual adult conversation rather than the running joke you’ve both agreed to have instead. If you’ve been meaning to study something properly rather than skim it, this is when it’s going to really stick.
Cancer rising
Money is the 2nd house subject, but self-worth is also part of the conversation here, and for you they’ve probably been tangled for a long time. Look at your rates. If you’re charging what you charged two years ago while doing noticeably better work, the number is describing a person you already stopped being. Raise it to the next client rather than the current one if that’s easier. Then check where the income actually comes from and how many places it comes from, because a single source you’re afraid to lose isn’t real security. Talk about a raise at work if you feel like it’s been a long time coming.
The heavier part is the inherited script about money. Most people have one they picked up and never questioned: that wanting more is greedy, that asking is rude, that you should be grateful for what you’ve got, that money makes you evil. It shows up as discounting yourself before anyone else does. Work where you’re treated as replaceable tends to end around transits like this, sometimes by your choice and sometimes not, so give yourself a runway before that decision gets made for you.
Leo rising
An eclipse in your first house is always intense. Whatever you’ve been calling yourself for the last few years is coming off, and the strange part is how little resistance you’ll feel once it starts. People usually cut their hair or change their clothes after something inside them has already decided. Let the outside catch up. Just don’t confuse the haircut with the actual work that needs to be done.
You know exactly which parts of your image you keep wearing because other people find them convenient. Being convenient is the specific thing the South Node is taking, and at first it will feel like disappointing people, because it is. Say no to one thing this month that you’d normally brush off, and watch which relationships survive it. This isn’t a week-long event either. Jupiter sits in your first house all year, so you’re being expanded and stripped at once, and the version of you that comes out the other side will be less agreeable and considerably more authentic.
Virgo rising
Everyone else gets a more or less visible arena for change. You get the 12th house, which is the part of the chart nobody can point at: sleep, dreams, fear, solitude, the things you do compulsively without ever fully understanding why. The eclipse happens behind you rather than in front of you, so don’t expect a grandiose event. Expect to notice that something you’d been carrying since spring isn’t there anymore. Your birthday is coming, and this is the clearing that happens before it.
Find the obligations that eat your hours: the one-time favour that somehow became permanent, the person who only calls when something’s wrong, the admin you took on because you’re the competent one, and you wanted to prove yourself. Drop it properly, not by doing it worse. Give the reclaimed time to something nobody sees you do, and don’t try to solve this with more discipline.
Libra rising
The 11th house is the crowd: friends, networks, the group chat, collaborators, the people whose approval you’ve been relying on in any way. And you’re the sign that automatically reads a room before entering it, which means you might’ve built a circle that likes you rather than one that knows you. The South Node here thins it out. Some of that happens by itself, and some of it you’ll have to force. In any case, the ones that dissolve without even a conversation were never that strong to begin with.
Look at where your ideas go. If you’ve been in a group where your thinking gets absorbed into the collective and comes back out with someone else’s name on it, that arrangement is ending. Say the disagreeable thing at the next meeting instead of finding the version everyone can accept. Then check your future plans, the ones you’ve been talking or thinking about for two years, and ask whether they’re yours or a consensus you agreed to at some point. Friendships built on genuine friction outlast friendships built on politeness, and this is the season you find out which ones you have.
Scorpio rising
The 10th house is at the top of the chart, so this is the public one for you: career, title, reputation, the person your industry thinks you are. Either you’re about to move up, or the position you hold now has been running out of air, and you’ve been calling that stability. The tell is simple. If nothing about the next two years of this job truly excites you, it’s likely finished or about to be.
Scorpio’s habit is to build power sideways and never announce it, so the best move here is the one you’ll like least: declare your ambition out loud, to the person who can approve it, with a date in mind. If you’re leaving instead, leave properly rather than by slow disengagement, which is how Scorpio usually does it. And watch the relationship with whoever holds authority over you. That’s where the eclipse will apply pressure, and the version of you that needed their approval is the part that’s ending.
Sagittarius rising
Leo is your 9th, so the Sun rules your beliefs, your teachers, your travels, and everything you move toward. What’s leaving is somebody else’s philosophy that you took on for yourself and never actually tested. Usually it comes from a teacher, an author, a school of thought, an influencer, a guru, a person you met at exactly the right moment. It served you, sure. But is it truly yours?
So stop quoting and start saying. If you teach, write, or read for people, work from your own material this season rather than from the people you learned it from. If a trip or a course has been half-planned since spring, book it, because these intentions decay fast. And deal with the formal thing you keep postponing: the visa, the contract, the certification, the paperwork that turns something you already do into something more solid. I know it’s not fun, but you’ll have to do it regardless, so better on your own terms that someone else’s.
Capricorn rising
Leo is your 8th, and the eclipse lands in the realm of other people’s money and the power that travels with it. Loans, investments, prenups, joint accounts, the business terms you agreed to back when you had less leverage than you have now. Look at those terms again. Something you signed two or three years ago is priced for a person with fewer options, and it’s still collecting.
Renegotiation is the focus of this month, and it gets uncomfortable before it gets fair, which is exactly why you’ll want to delay it. Propose the new terms without the long justification you’re already writing in your head. There’s a non-financial version too: debts of obligation, the ones where someone helped you once, and you’ve been paying for it in deference ever since. Those come due this season as well. Whatever you’re keeping to yourself to stay in control of it is the thing the eclipse is after, and closeness of any kind only improves here after you get more honest, and not a moment earlier.
Aquarius rising
The eclipse sits directly opposite you, in the 7th, which means you’ll experience it through other people. Marriage, business partners, clients, whoever you built something with. Expect to see your own patterns reflected right back at you. What gets exposed is the balance of power. Who defers, who decides, and who has been carrying the thing without ever saying so.
Some partnerships end here. Most of them get renegotiated, which is slow and much less satisfying to talk about. The useful question is whether the current arrangement can survive both of you being fully yourselves at the same time, because plenty of them only run on one person staying slightly smaller. Your sign’s move under pressure is to go cool and rational and handle it alone. Don’t. Instead, say what you actually want from the person, and let them react. And take a look at your client roster while you’re at it, because the ones you’ve kept only out of loyalty are part of the same pattern.
Pisces rising
The 6th is where a life actually gets lived: work, routine, health, and the people you depend on to keep it all running. Jupiter sits there all year, so the workload swells right as your tolerance for it collapses. You’ll endure a flattened schedule longer than anyone else would and call it patience. That’s the habit the South Node is taking. Sometime in September you’ll go to do the thing you’ve done on autopilot since last winter and find you can’t.
Start cutting before that happens. One commitment you took on out of kindness, gone. One person you’ve kept out of inertia rather than results, replaced: the doctor who doesn’t listen, the client who pays 40 days late. Then hold a single physical habit for six weeks, since one non-negotiable works on you better than a whole system does. Work you’re not a little proud of stops being bearable around now, and you’d rather choose what goes than have your body choose for you.
The throughline
Whatever house it falls in for you, the eclipse asks for the same thing. Stop being convenient. Most people trade themselves for approval so gradually that they can’t remember agreeing to it. You didn’t speak up at the meeting. You took on somebody else’s template for what a career should look like, what a marriage should be, what you’re allowed to charge for your work. You’ve been running at 60 percent for years because the full version would need explaining to people who prefer the smaller edition of you.
Getting out of that starts with seeing it clearly. No transit does the work for you, and nobody comes to grant permission. You have to do that. Do the thing you’d still do if the audience got up and left.
Leo only wants the light that actually belongs to you.
